I went for a walk this morning. It was beautiful and I felt thankful and grateful as I uttered a thank you prayer to God. I talk to God the way I normally speak to a trusted friend. My prayers are not flowery or poetic. My focus when I pray is to be genuine, not poetic or flowery because that is not who I am. If my prayer is heartfelt, I have expressed the thank you prayer I desired.
Thank you Prayer
Father in Heaven, thank you, for the sun. I love the sun because it makes me feel hopeful, probably because it provides me with light. This morning your light is beautifully shining upon the mountains where I dream of living someday.
Thank you for the color green as I look up through the new spring leaves with the background of a clear blue sky. Cloud formations are interesting, but it is special to see the sun surrounded by only a perfect tone of blue that is calming and peaceful to my soul.
Thank you I can hear the birds talk to one another, especially the doves. When they make their “cooing” sound to one another, their language becomes rhythmic music with harmonious tones. I am grateful to live in the same place numerous doves have chosen to make their music.
Thank you for my physical body that is allowing me to experience life on earth. I am thankful for all the miraculous things my body allows me to do especially to see, hear, talk, walk, bend, and learn.
Thank you for my family, my sweet grandchildren, children, and their mates. Thank you for keeping each one of them safe. And thank you for our pet rabbit, Pepper, who brings us joy.
Thank you for friends who love and offer prayers on our behalf.
Thank you for a home, food, drink, clothes, car, and all the things my family need. Thank you I have time to go for a walk today and to express my gratitude to you in this thank you prayer.
Thank you for the scriptures so I can read your word. I am thankful for all the sacrifices that have been made to enable me to read your word. I feel grateful for all those who have been obedient to write down your word so I can read it today. I feel reading your word protects me with more of your light. I especially love to read the Book of Mormon because it is “easier to understand” scripture. Thank you.
I remember your son, Jesus in this thank you prayer. The scriptures testify Jesus atoned and sacrificed for us so it would be possible for us to receive salvation. I believe this is true. I humbly strive to do your will. I give all my “Goliaths” to Jesus to fix and I am striving to be submissive to your will because I trust you!
Thank you for your love for me and family. In the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
I wrote a blog about my study of gratitude and its power. This research led me to be conscientious about saying “Thank you” prayers to God.
