Does God Approve of Divination- Pendulums, Dowsing, etc.

It may surprise you, but I believe, if specific criteria are met, the answer to the question “Does God Approve of Divination?” is sometimes “Yes.” I will present supporting documentation in this blog post why I believe this is true.

Postive Aspects of Divination

The term divination is usually used in conjunction with occult or supernatural practices. The term divination is not traditionally used when speaking about God and his work. Using “revelation” or another word with a similar meaning might be more accurate when considering a positive aspect of divination. However, for my purpose to present a couple of points (that are at least related to divination), I think it is best to keep things simple by referring to both sides of divination (for and against) as simply divination.

Casting Lots – Does God Approve of Divination?

If you desire to establish God’s approval of divination, it is logical to explore scripture. The Lord approved of “casting lots” in the following scripture verses, which can be considered a type of divination.

And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

Acts 1:26

And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat.

Leviticus 16:8

“Casting lots” can be a “divination” form of random chance unless God is involved in the outcome. God’s involvement changes “casting lots” from receiving random-chance results to a reliable message of God’s will. In the above scripture passages, God’s will was for Matthias to be numbered with the eleven apostles.

Step 2- Criteria Approved

To receive God’s will through divination, you need to present your intention to God. After presenting your purpose to use a particular form of divination such as “casting lots,” ask to receive God’s approval concerning your request.

If you receive God’s approval, then proceed with the assurance God is involved in the form of divination approved of.

Many things can be used for good of for evil – Does God Approve of divination?

If you worship God, you shouldn’t use muscle testing and pendulums because God disapproves of them. I have to disagree.

You can use many things for good or for evil. A group of thugs can “cast lots” to assign someone to be a hitman to murder for evil purposes. On the other hand, as presented above, “casting lots” can be used to further God’s purposes.

Marijuana is an example of a product that can be used for both good and bad. Snake venom is another example. Snake venom can be deadly, but when altered into an antidote, it saves lives.

Does God Approve of Divination - The key is your intention and knowing that your intention meets with the approval of God. Both muscle testing and pendulums are good tools when used properly with God's permission.

Types of divination God does not approve

Does God Approve of Divination - It takes practice to tell if a message comes from God or the adversary. My experience has taught me that God focuses on service and sacrifice while the adversary focuses on appealing to your vanity and pride.

The Bible also makes it clear that God disapproves of many forms of divination.

And he made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, to provoke [him] to anger.

2 Kings 21:6

Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I [am] the LORD your God.

Leviticus 19:31

It takes practice to tell if a message comes from God or the adversary. My experience has taught me that God usually focuses on service and sacrifice while the adversary generally focuses on supernatural methods that appeal to vanity and pride.

Knowledge or Appeal to Your Ego

God’s messages share knowledge that is in harmony with the scriptures. The adversary’s messages appeal to your ego which may include the promise to obtain power or wealth. I write more details about this subject in my blog post titled, “Attain Knowledge or Supernatural Experience”.

Conclusion

The Bible has examples of God approving and disapproving different forms of divination.

When seeking approval of divination from God, remember to follow the 2-step process.

  1. Present your divination intention to God
  2. Receive God’s approval prior to proceeding to use any form of divination

Also, remember that you can use many things for both good and bad, including muscle testing, pendulums, and dowsing. Remember, the key is that it is imperative to receive God’s approval before using any form of divination. If God isn’t involved, His power will be absent, and the outcome will likely prove unfavorable.
