Dr. Robert Emmons is an advocate to practice gratitude and thanks. Dr. Robert Emmons, Professor of Psychology at UC Davis has research data that proves practicing daily gratitude improves health. He has now published his research data in books titled Thanks! and Gratitude Works!
Dr. Emmons asked 300 people to keep a journal asking three groups to do three different things:
Group A Write down the things they were grateful for
Group B Write down what annoyed them
Group C Write down whatever popped into their mind
At the completion of his study, group B who wrote down what annoyed them, and group C who wrote down whatever popped into their minds were exceeded by Group A (those who wrote down thing they were grateful for) in five areas of health:

Made More Progress Toward Important Personal Goals
More Positive Attitude
Wow, after looking at that fabulous list, it is motivation to attain and maintain a state of gratitude! Daily gratitude using the simple phrase, “Thank you!” is now being proven to be a powerful tool.
Practice Gratitude by Writing A Letter of Thanks
Then they challenged Group A to write a letter of thanks to someone who gave them something. After they expressed gratitude, they recorded their experience, how it felt to express thanks, in their journals. Writing down what you are grateful for is a wonderful exercise; however, it can be heightened with a bit more effort by doing one more step: Verbally expressing gratitude to someone and writing down how that made you feel. Many reported they felt more connected to others, and it was no surprise that everyone loved hearing the words, “Thank You”!

Before I share my stress management activity that is simple and quick with good results, I want to list some of the most common physical symptoms stress causes.
Top Physical Symptoms Caused by Stress
Aches, pains, and tense muscles.
Chest pain and rapid heartbeat.
Frequent colds and infections.
Upset stomach, including diarrhea, constipation, and nausea.
Loss of sexual desire and/or ability
Would anyone want to sign up for those “effects”? And this list is just a few of the many physical symptoms stress causes.
When experiencing long-term physical, mental, or emotional stress, the body stays in survival or fight flight response where the body’s energy is out of balance. The majority of the body’s energy moves into the legs and arms in preparation to run or fight. God intended the survival mode mechanism to kick in on a short-term basis for protection and safety purposes; however, in today’s fast-paced environment, a high percentage of people are living in fight flight response on a daily basis which is robbing valuable energy that is needed for the body’s organs to grow and repair cells. This state of being is very unhealthy for the body and can lead to serious health problems.
We all are affected by stress. Since we can’t get completely away from stress, we have to learn to deal with it. Complicated or time-consuming solutions to alleviate stress often end up causing more stress. It is best to choose a stress management activity that easily flows into your day but yet is effective.
Stress Release Activity Simplified
Our “to do” lists are always longer than the time we have to complete them. A stress management activity needs to be a simple, quick solution, or it most likely will not be helpful. The best stress release activity I have found to deal with stress is to take a couple of deep breaths, and then say a quick stress release prayer. It resets me, and I am able to cope moving forward with focus and strength.

The words of this prayer can be changed to fit your personality and what feels comfortable to you. All that is needed is to pray with sincerity and meaningful, heartfelt emotion.
God hears and answers prayers. All we have to do is believe and ask.

Another short stress management activity that may be helpful
If I have a hard time falling to sleep or if I wake up during the night and can’t fall to sleep, I listen to this short guided prayerful meditation to release fear. Most guided meditations don’t work for me but word choices in this prayerful meditation calm me right to sleep in less than 12 minutes. Hopefully, it will work for you too.
Prior to sharing my energy healing techniques, it is essential to understand the following:
Love attracts positive energy
Fear attracts negative energy
Increase Love; Decrease Fear
Considering the above two statements, in order to improve emotional health, we must use energy healing techniques that increase the emotion of love and decrease the emotion of fear and anger. It would be nice if we set a goal to have perpetual love, and then wake up the next day in a state of continual love.
Identification of Emotion Unnecessary
Emotion Code has helped a lot of people. However, I recently discovered that it is unnecessary when using energy healing techniques to identify anger or any emotion in order to achieve a release. There are many who would disagree but I have found this to be effective.
Higher-Self Knows More
It takes time and practice to identify anger and other emotions that are ready to be released which lengthens the time to heal. My husband was inspired when he said, “The best energy healing techniques are to let your higher-self decide the most destructive emotions that need to be released at this time”. I define the highest aspect of myself as my higher-self which resides with God. Because my higher-self resides with God, this portion of my spirit knows more than the portion of my spirit housed in my physical body. Therefore, it makes complete sense to allow our higher-selves that know and understand more to decide what emotion needs to be released most urgently.
If you are working hard to rid yourself and others of dark entities, it is important to remember to say a spiritual shield protection prayer after the dark entities have been removed.
When we begin our day, we always pray that each member of our family will be shielded with a perfect shield of protection.
There are scripture stories like when Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were protected. Nebuchadnezzar cast them into the fire but they were not harmed. I think it is likely that a spiritual shield of protection kept them safe.
…..upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats change, nor the smell of fire had passed on them. Daniel 3:27
Another scripture story about Samuel, a Lamanite who stood on the wall of the city of Zarahemla to tell the people to repent is an example of someone who was surrounded with a spiritual shield of protection most likely because a prayer for protection was offered.
But as many as there were who did not believe in the words of Samuel were angry with him; and they cast stones at him upon the wall, and also many shot arrows at him as he stood upon the wall; but the Spirit of the Lord was with him, insomuch that they could not hit him with their stones neither with their arrows. Helaman 16:2
Fear and Anger can Destroy a Spiritual Shield of Protection
I have a friend who studied the New Testament with the intent to further his knowledge about healings in the Bible. He discovered that exactly half, 28 out of 56, were healed of their tormenting physical and/or mental illnesses by saying a prayer to remove dark or negative entities (New Testament term is “casting out”), and the person was immediately blessed with healing. We can all learn how to pray to remove dark entities so we can experience healing too.
Mental illness interrelated to dark or negative entities
Seven years ago, three of our children left Mormonism although we had attended church every week our whole lives. I had heard of one and occasionally two, but never three leaving from one family at once. Our family attended church every week, we read the scriptures and prayed together on a daily basis, but yet our family was now divided. Three of our six children left Mormonism.
Our oldest daughter, Ashirya, expressed she believed the Mormon church was dishonest about their history. At the time, I thought her questions would be cleared up as she continued to seek truth.

Ashirya told me while attending Brigham Young University, she had questions about various happenings in Mormon history. She asked her religion professors to answer her questions, but interestingly the professors rarely had answers.
Ashirya’s diligent, thorough, and persistent nature led her to the BYU library to find answers. Unknown to us or anyone, she quietly began a seven-year study of Mormon church history. Although she found many inaccuracies, she continued to look for answers as to why the things she had learned from her Sunday school teachers and professors were often inaccurate.
