Be Kind | Love One Another

I like the way Ellen Degeneres closes each of her shows with the words, "Be kind to one another". I have been paying closer attention to "be kind" scriptures, and I have discovered there are many of them.

I like the way Ellen Degeneres closes each of her shows with the words, “Be kind to one another”.  My husband and I recently made a covenant with Christ to love one another so I have been thinking a lot about love and kindness.

Law of Karma

I strongly believe in the law of karma.  The words we choose to say and the deeds we choose to do come back to us. It has been proven words have power so it is important to choose them carefully. In other words, “You get what you give so it definitely pays to be kind!

 “Be Kind” Words

I have been paying closer attention to “be kind” words, and I have discovered there are many of them.  Here are some that I like:

Now swear to me here before God that you will not deal falsely with me or my children or my descendants. Show to me and the country where you now reside as a foreigner the same kindness I have shown to you.  Genesis 21:23

But when all goes well with you, remember me and show me kindness. Genesis 40:14

Now then, please swear to me by the LORD that you will show kindness to my family, because I have shown kindness to you. Joshua 2:12

“The LORD bless him!” Naomi said to her daughter-in-law. “He has not stopped showing his kindness to the living and the dead.” Ruth 2:20

But show me unfailing kindness like the LORD’s kindness as long as I live, so that I may not be killed. 1 Samuel 20:14

May the LORD now show you kindness and faithfulness, and I too will show you the same favor because you have done this.    2 Samuel 2:6

In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you,” says the LORD your Redeemer. Isaiah 54:8

…in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love…  2 Corinthians 6:6

…in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:7

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12

But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared…Titus 3:4

I strongly believe in the law of karma.  The words we choose to say and the deeds we choose to do come back to us.  In other words, "You get what you give so it definitely pays to be kind!

Be Kind to Yourself

It is also very important to remember to be kind to yourself.  If you aren’t kind to yourself, it is very likely you will attract the negative treatment you give yourself.  Loving others begins with loving yourself.

  • Compliment yourself
  • Say kind words to yourself especially when you make mistakes
  • Tell yourself often, “I am of great worth and value”
  • Stand up for yourself using kind words
  • Take the time to do things that make you happy

In this video, I love the store owners wisdom and kindness in giving a hungry boy food rather than pressing charges for trying to steal food.
